Framing the First Floor Plate
The beams and wood are reclaimed from Lowry Airfare Base when it was decommissioned. My Husband Scott Johnson bought them as an ambitious 25 year old who knew someday he would build his own house. He bought them for $5000 over 25 years ago. They sat bunked and tarped at his dad and mom’s house in Keystone- the house that they built together (like we are doing) - Scott kept them covered and tarped and last summer before his dad passed away - 20 years after his mom passed away - we moved them to our job site and dreamt of the day we would be able to place the beams. That is now and the amazing young men, both students of Scotts at Colorado College - ( who incidentally were not even born when Scott acquired the beams) are working with us and sometimes alone to help us frame out this floor and place the beams.
